Excursion on Mont-Bastide from the Village of Ezie

10 km

The famous Corniches that cross the eastern part of the Côte d’Azur divide the city of Èze into three levels, from Èze-sur-Mer and its long beach to the Col d’Èze (507m) via Èze-town (430m).

The Mont Bastide circuit connects these different points by following historic routes through landscapes where the Mediterranean flora offers an overview of its surprising variety. If the pine forests had almost disappeared in the great fires of 1986, a fragrant maquis suggests a new growth cycle: groves of wild carob trees, oak groves or islands of flowering ash compete with bushes of cotton rock rose, mastic or pistachio trees for fields of arborescent euphorbia.

The highest point of the circuit, the summit plateau of Mont Bastide, in addition to its grandiose panorama, offers the visitor the remains of an occupation dating back to the Neolithic.
